Petronas Philharmonic Hall

Assalamuaikum, greetings and salutation to one and all. I am Siti Khadijah bt Azahar and my true propose here is to share with everyone about Petronas Philharmonic Hall in Kuala Lumpur. First of all I am a music lover and I am a universal listener. In spite of that, classical music is one of my favorite genre. I also listen to and appreciate those talented and genius musicians such as Mozart, Debussy and Beethoven. So that explains the reason why I choose to write on Petronas Philharmonic Hall. This is because it also fulfills my deep interest in music. Initially, I had not known that there was such as Philharmonic Hall in KLCC due to my ignorance, not until on that very fine day when I had the chance of being invited to watch one of the performances there. The performance that I went really moved me, the place had me in awe and since then I decided to get to know well enough of the place.

Petronas Philharmonic Hall is located at the bottom of the elevated Petronas Twin Tower. The beautiful hall has been furnished with the latest services and such luxurious and comfortable seats for the audience. The hall is huge and wide indeed. From what I have known it has a capacity of 885 spectators including box seating at Stall level and 20 plush corporate suites at Circle and Upper Circle levels. This concert hall was built on the lines of the traditional shoe-box design of the European concert halls of the 19th century. Amazing as it is, it also has an adjustable ceiling that bends for the solo pianists or a full-fledged orchestra.

Since Petronas Philharmonic Hall is being the first intended concert hall of Malaysia, the aim is to be the hub for enthusiastic classical music audiences, apart from other complementary musical styles like jazz and world music. The hall has been opened since 1998 and there were innumerable concerts, recitals chamber concerts and traditional cultural performances being held there. Besides, the performances organized here have never  missed world-rewoned classical artists and orchestras, international jazz musicians, traditional Malaysian music and dance productions.

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, together with other musicians all over the world have always impressed listeners with its amazing and impeccable performances. In fact Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra has successfully made a loyal and wholehearted following in the Malaysian community. Furthermore, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra  also boasts one of its valuable facility that is a Klais Pipe Organ, which was designed and built by a German organ builder, Johannes Klais in Germany. The 44-stop pipe organ extends from the floor to ceiling, and soars high up over the orchestra pit.

In my opinion based on my out of curiosity research on Petronas Philharmonic Hall,  it has got a brilliant recording studio. Truth to be told, it was designed by Abbey Road studios of EMI Group from United Kingdom and constructed by Audio Design Group. With its wonderful scheming allows the benefit for the commercial-quality recording of performances in the concert Hall.

Thank you for reading.
